Dent:Space – Taking Place at Starfleet Headquarters?

Before one can boldly go where no man has gone before, it’s important to establish a base of operations. But how does one go about selecting the center of human innovation and exploration?  Yes, just as with Goldilocks planets (planets the perfect distance from a star to support life), it’s all about location, location, location.

In JJ Abram’s 2009 Star Trek film, the Starfleet Hangers and Starfleet Academy are located west of The Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, leading many fans to theorize that the Palace itself is the coveted location of Starfleet Headquarters.

We could think of no better place to host Dent:Space than The Palace of Fine Arts’ very own Innovation Hanger.

“Introducing a rare place where the curious and the capable can collide. Where dreamers can play, grow and learn. Where innovative minds can inspire the world.” –Innovation Hangar Website

AN EPICENTER OF ENRICHMENT

Located inside the iconically beautiful Palace of the Fine Arts, the new Innovation Hangar seeks to provide a physical space for thinkers, doers, and adventurers to come together. Such spaces are becoming increasingly rare in this digital age, and so the Innovation Hangar’s 20,000 square-foot social innovation space is open to the public. Entrepreneurs, inventors, educators, and students are all encouraged to attend.

The Innovation Hangar (“iHangar”) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization

A MUSEUM THAT DOUBLES AS AN EVENT SPACE

Picture this: The 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition in the Marina District of San Francisco, California. Works of art and scientific ingenuity from around the country have been gathered here, but there is nowhere to exhibit them. Such a scenic location and ambitious event require an exhibition hall to match! And so the Palace of the Fine Arts was built. It is one of only a few surviving structures from the Exposition, and remains situated in its original site.

Today, 120,000 square-feet of of the space are designated to the Innovation Hanger, 80,000 of which are available to rent. This uniquely expansive venue makes it possible to host events that would be otherwise impossible to accommodate. The only limit is imagination.
